Create an Expiring File Link

Choose how long the file stays up, and optionally how many times it can be downloaded. When time runs out, the file is deleted automatically.

Send Receive

Drop files or a folder

Files Folder

Up to 500 MB · Sign in for 2 GB

Step by step

  1. Add the file

Open send.enzonic.com and drag in a file, several files, or a folder.

  2. Pick an expiry

Choose 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days. Signed in with a free account, you can choose up to 7 days.

  3. Set a download limit if needed

Pick 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100 downloads, or leave it unlimited within the expiry window.

  4. Share and forget

Send the link, 6-digit code or QR code. The file is removed automatically at expiry, or earlier if you delete it.

Most files you send only need to exist for a short while. The client downloads the proof, your friend grabs the photos, the print shop prints the PDF, and after that the copy sitting on a server is just a liability. An expiring link handles the cleanup for you: you set a lifetime when you upload, and the file is deleted when that time is up.

Expiry options at a glance

Setting Without account With free account
1 hour Yes Yes
1 day Yes Yes
3 days Yes Yes
Up to 7 days No Yes
Download limit (1, 5, 10, 50, 100) Yes Yes
Delete early Yes Yes
Permanent link No No

There is no "never expires" setting. Enzonic Send is built for transfers, not long-term storage. If you need a file to live somewhere indefinitely, a cloud drive is the right tool.

Picking the right lifetime

Think about when the recipient will realistically download, then add a little margin.

  • 1 hour. They are on the phone with you, sitting next to you, or about to scan a QR code. Also the best choice on shared or public computers.
  • 1 day. They will get to it today or tomorrow morning. Good default for colleagues in the same time zone.
  • 3 days. Over a weekend, across time zones, or when you are not sure when they will check messages.
  • 7 days (signed in). Clients who take a while, people who are travelling, or anything you would otherwise have to re-send.

Shorter is safer, but a link that expires before it is used just means uploading again. If in doubt, pick the longer option and delete the transfer yourself once the recipient confirms.

Expiry vs. download limit

These two settings do different jobs, and they work together. Whichever condition is hit first ends the transfer.

Expiry is about time. It answers: how long should this file exist at all?

Download limit is about count. It answers: how many times should this file be fetched?

A few combinations that work well:

  1. One-time handoff. Download limit 1, expiry 1 day. The intended person downloads it and the transfer closes behind them. This is close to how file.io's one-download model works; see our file.io alternative page.
  2. Small group. Download limit 10, expiry 3 days. Enough for a team, not enough for the link to circulate widely.
  3. Quick show-and-tell. No download limit, expiry 1 hour. You are sharing a QR code in a meeting room and everyone should be able to grab it.
  4. Sensitive document. Download limit 1, expiry 1 hour, plus a password sent separately. See password-protected file sharing.

Deleting a transfer before it expires

As the sender, you can delete a transfer at any time. Do this when:

  • The recipient confirms they have the file.
  • You sent the wrong version.
  • You pasted the link into the wrong chat.

Once deleted, the link, the 6-digit code and the QR code all stop working.

What the recipient experiences

While the transfer is live, the recipient opens the link, scans the QR code, or types the code at send.enzonic.com/receive, enters a password if you set one, and downloads. No account needed.

After expiry, or after the download limit is reached, the file is gone and the link no longer leads to a download. If they missed the window, they need to ask you for a new link. It is worth mentioning the deadline in the optional message field, for example "Available until Friday".

  • Less exposure over time. A link pasted into an email thread can be found months later. An expired one leads nowhere.
  • No cleanup chores. You do not have to remember to remove old shared files.
  • Clear expectations. The recipient knows to download now rather than treating the link as permanent storage.

Firefox Send used the same idea before Mozilla discontinued it in 2020; our Firefox Send alternative page covers how Enzonic Send compares.

Honest limits

  • The maximum lifetime is 7 days, and only with a free account. Anonymous transfers top out at 3 days.
  • Choose the expiry when you upload. If the recipient needs more time later, the dependable fix is to upload again with a longer setting.
  • Size limits are 500 MB per transfer without an account and 2 GB with one.
  • Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, but Enzonic Send is not end-to-end encrypted. Expiry limits how long a file exists; it does not change how it is encrypted.

FAQ

What is the longest an Enzonic Send link can last?

3 days without an account and up to 7 days with a free account. There is no permanent link option.

Can I make a link that works for only one download?

Yes. Set the download limit to 1. After one download the transfer is no longer available, even if the expiry time has not been reached.

Are files actually deleted when the link expires?

Yes. Files auto-delete at expiry. You can also delete a transfer yourself before then.

Can I extend the expiry after uploading?

Plan for the expiry you need when you upload. If the recipient needs more time, upload the file again with a longer expiry, signing in for up to 7 days.

Does the 6-digit code expire at the same time as the link?

Yes. The link, code and QR code all belong to the same transfer, so they stop working together.
