file.io Alternative With Flexible Downloads

file.io deletes a file after its first download. That is perfect for some jobs and frustrating for others. Enzonic Send lets you choose how many downloads a link allows.

Up to 500 MB · Sign in for 2 GB

Step by step

  1. Drop in the file

Drag a file or folder onto the uploader above, or tap it on your phone to pick from Photos or Files.

  2. Set a download limit

Choose 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100 downloads, or leave it off and let the expiry time decide.

  3. Pick an expiry

Choose 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days, or up to 7 days when signed in. Whichever limit is reached first closes the link.

  4. Share it

Send the link, the 6-digit code or the QR code. Add a password if the file is private.

file.io is built around a single idea: upload a file, share the link, and the file is deleted after one download. For handing over a one-off secret or a quick log file, that is exactly right. For anything where two people need the same file, or where a link preview might "use up" the download, it can get in the way.

The one-download model, explained

At the time of writing, file.io deletes a file after it has been downloaded once. That has some clear upsides:

  • The file does not linger on a server.
  • You know the link is dead as soon as the recipient has it.
  • It is a simple mental model.

And some downsides people run into:

  • Accidental downloads. Some chat apps fetch links to build a preview, and some corporate email systems scan links automatically. Either can count as the one download before your recipient clicks.
  • More than one recipient. If you need to share with a team, one download is not enough.
  • Failed downloads. If the recipient's download breaks halfway, there may be no second try.

What Enzonic Send does differently

Enzonic Send treats the download count as a setting rather than a rule. You choose:

Setting Options
Download limit Off, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100
Expiry 1 hour, 1 day, 3 days; up to 7 days signed in
Password Optional
Title and message Optional
Manual delete Anytime, by the sender

The link closes at whichever comes first: the download limit or the expiry. Files are deleted automatically at expiry.

So if you want file.io behaviour, set the limit to 1. If you are sending to a group of five, set it to 5 or 10. If you only care about time, leave the limit off and pick an expiring link.

Where file.io is the better fit

  • Scripts and automation. file.io is often used from the command line or from code. If you need to upload from a script, Enzonic Send is not designed for that.
  • Strict one-shot sharing by default. With file.io you cannot forget to set a limit; one download is the rule.

Picking the right download limit

A few patterns that work well:

  • 1 download: a single document for one person, such as a signed contract or a set of credentials you would otherwise paste in chat. Pair it with a password sent through a different channel.
  • 5 or 10 downloads: a small team, or one person who might open it on both phone and laptop. This also leaves room for a link preview or a broken download.
  • 50 or 100 downloads: a class, a club or a group chat.
  • No limit, short expiry: when you care more about the file disappearing soon than about who opens it.

Sending from your device

Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS: drag files or a folder from your file manager onto the uploader. Folders and multiple files are zipped in the browser with their structure kept.

iPhone and iPad: in Safari, tap the uploader, then choose Photo Library or Browse for the Files app.

Android: tap the uploader and select files with the Chrome file picker.

The recipient opens the link, scans the QR code, or types the 6-digit code at send.enzonic.com/receive. Nobody needs an account to receive. You can read more about sharing with a code.

Honest limits

  • 500 MB per transfer without an account, 2 GB with a free account. Daily quotas apply.
  • Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, but the service is not end-to-end encrypted.
  • It is free because it shows ads.

If those fit, you get file.io's "gone after use" feel, with room for the second download you did not plan for.

FAQ

Can Enzonic Send work like file.io, with one download only?

Yes. Set the download limit to 1. The link stops working after the first download, and the file is also removed at expiry.

Why did my file.io link say the file was deleted?

file.io removes a file after it is downloaded once. Link previews in chat apps or email security scanners can sometimes trigger that download before your recipient clicks.

What happens when the download limit is reached on Enzonic Send?

The link and code stop working for further downloads. You can upload the file again if someone else needs it.

Can I delete the transfer myself?

Yes. The sender can delete a transfer at any time, before either the download limit or the expiry is reached.

Is there an API like file.io's?

Enzonic Send is a browser and mobile app service. It does not offer a public upload API for scripts.
