Step by step
Find the original file
Locate the exported or recorded video file itself, not a preview or a copy shared out of a chat app.
Upload it
Drag it onto send.enzonic.com on a computer, or tap the upload area on a phone and pick it. Add several clips at once if you like.
Set expiry and protection
Choose how long the link stays live, and add a password or download limit for unreleased footage.
Share the link or code
Send the link to the recipient, or read them the 6-digit code to enter at send.enzonic.com/receive.
Most ways of sharing video are built for watching, not for handing over the file. Chat apps and social platforms re-encode what you send so it plays smoothly on a phone over a weak connection. That is fine for a funny clip. It is a problem when the person on the other end needs to edit, grade, archive or project the footage.
Why video gets worse when you share it
Every time a video is re-encoded, some detail is thrown away. Fine texture turns smudgy, dark scenes show banding, and fast motion breaks into blocks. Messaging apps typically do this automatically when you send video as media, and they may also lower the resolution or frame rate.
Enzonic Send does not touch the file. What you upload is what gets downloaded, byte for byte. If you send several clips at once, they are bundled into a zip in your browser so the recipient gets one download, but each video inside is the original.
Where your video can go, at the time of writing
| Route | Size limit | What happens to quality |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail attachment | 25 MB (bigger goes as a Google Drive link) | Original kept |
| Outlook.com attachment | 20 MB | Original kept |
| Discord, free account | 10 MB | Original kept |
| WhatsApp, sent as media | Varies | Recompressed |
| WhatsApp, sent as document | Up to 2 GB | Original kept |
| Enzonic Send, no account | 500 MB per transfer | Original kept |
| Enzonic Send, free account | 2 GB per transfer | Original kept |
Platform limits change, so check their current rules if you are near a boundary. Our pages on WhatsApp's file size limit and Discord's file size limit go into more detail.
How big is your video, really?
File size depends on resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate and length, so two 4K clips of the same duration can differ a lot. A phone recording in HEVC is far smaller than the same scene in ProRes, and an export from an editing app depends entirely on the settings you chose.
Rather than guess, check the actual number:
- Windows: right-click the file in File Explorer and choose Properties.
- Mac: select it in Finder and press Command-I.
- iPhone: in the Files app, long-press the file and tap Get Info. In Photos, swipe up on the video or tap the info button to see details.
- Android: in your file manager, open the file's details or properties.
If it is under 500 MB, you can send it right now without signing up. Up to 2 GB, create a free account with email or Google first.
Over 2 GB: your honest options
Enzonic Send caps transfers at 2 GB even when signed in. That covers a lot of phone footage and compressed exports, but not long camera originals or high-bitrate masters. If your file is bigger:
- Export a delivery version. If the recipient only needs to review or post the video, an H.264 or HEVC export at a sensible bitrate is often a fraction of the size of a master file.
- Trim or split. Cut a long recording into parts and send each as its own transfer.
- Send the clips separately. A project folder with dozens of clips can be sent in batches, each under 2 GB.
- Use a service built for bigger files. At the time of writing, SwissTransfer allows up to 50 GB per transfer for free. Plans change, so check their site.
We would rather you pick the right tool than get stuck halfway through an upload.
Sending from a phone
Phones are where most video starts, and where quality loss most often sneaks in. On an iPhone, the Photo Library picker in Safari may hand over a converted copy depending on your iOS version and settings. Saving the video to the Files app first and picking it with Choose File is the safer route. The full walkthrough is in send a video from iPhone in full quality.
On Android, Chrome's file picker passes the file through as stored. If your gallery app offers a resolution or size option when sharing, skip the share sheet and pick the file from the browser instead.
Keep the browser open and the screen on until the upload finishes. Uploads do not resume if they are interrupted, so a large file over a patchy mobile connection is better sent from Wi-Fi.
Settings for client and unreleased footage
- Password: share it separately from the link, for example by phone.
- Download limit: set 1 or 5 so a forwarded link stops working after the expected downloads.
- Expiry: 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days without an account, up to 7 days signed in. Files are deleted automatically when it runs out.
- Title and message: add the project name and version so the recipient knows which cut they have.
Transfers are encrypted in transit and at rest. They are not end-to-end encrypted, so judge sensitive material accordingly.
Checklist before you hit upload
- The file is the original or final export, not something saved out of a chat.
- It is under 500 MB, or you are signed in and it is under 2 GB.
- Multiple clips are selected together or dropped in as a folder.
- You have picked an expiry that gives the recipient enough time.
- For anything confidential, a password is set.
For other big files beyond video, see the general guide to sending large files.
FAQ
Does Enzonic Send compress my video?
No. The file is stored and delivered unchanged. Several clips sent together are packed into a zip, which keeps each original intact.
What is the largest video I can send?
Up to 500 MB per transfer without an account and up to 2 GB per transfer with a free account. Larger files need trimming, splitting or a service with a higher cap.
Why does my video look worse after sending it on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp recompresses videos sent as media. Sending as a document avoids that, within its size limit, or you can send a link to the original instead.
Should I zip a video to make it smaller?
It will not help much. Video formats like MP4 and MOV are already compressed, so zipping saves very little space.
Can the recipient stream the video in the browser?
Plan on the recipient downloading the file and playing it in their own video app, such as VLC, QuickTime or the Photos app. That way they get the original quality.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. Anyone with the link or code can download it until it expires or reaches its download limit.
