AirDrop Alternative for Any Device

AirDrop is great until someone in the room has an Android phone or a Windows laptop. Enzonic Send does the same job in any browser, over the internet, with a code or QR code.

Send Receive

Drop files or a folder

Files Folder

Up to 500 MB · Sign in for 2 GB

Step by step

  1. Open Enzonic Send on the sending device

Go to send.enzonic.com in any browser, or open the Enzonic Send app on iPhone or Android.

  2. Add your files

Drag files or a folder onto the page on a computer, or tap to pick photos and files on a phone. Several files are zipped in the browser automatically.

  3. Start the transfer

Optionally set an expiry, password or download limit, then upload. You get a share link, a 6-digit code and a QR code.

  4. Receive on the other device

Scan the QR code with the other phone's camera, open the link, or type the 6-digit code at send.enzonic.com/receive.

AirDrop is one of the nicest things about owning Apple devices. Tap a name, and a photo lands on the other iPhone or Mac a few seconds later. The catch is in that sentence: it has to be another Apple device, and it has to be nearby. The moment you need to send a video to a friend's Android phone, or pull photos onto a Windows work laptop, AirDrop is not an option.

Enzonic Send covers those cases. It runs in the browser on any phone or computer, sends files over the internet, and hands you a link, a 6-digit code and a QR code for every transfer.

Where AirDrop stops working

The common situations where people go looking for an AirDrop alternative:

  • iPhone to Android, or Android to iPhone. Different ecosystems, no shared button. See Android to iPhone for a step-by-step version.
  • iPhone to a Windows PC. AirDrop does not exist on Windows. The AirDrop for Windows guide covers the options.
  • The other person is not in the room. AirDrop is designed for devices close to each other. A link works across town or across the world.
  • The receiver will grab the file later. With Enzonic Send, the files sit on Cloudflare's network until they expire, so you can close the tab and the other person downloads when it suits them.
  • A group of mixed devices. Post one link or QR code and everyone, on any device, can download.

How the code and QR code replace the share sheet

AirDrop finds the receiver for you. Enzonic Send gives you three ways to hand over a transfer instead:

  1. QR code. When the receiver is next to you, this is the closest thing to AirDrop. They point their phone camera at the QR code on your screen and tap the link that appears. The QR code guide has more on this.
  2. 6-digit code. Easy to read out loud or text. The receiver goes to send.enzonic.com/receive, or opens the app, and types it in. More in share files with a code.
  3. Share link. Paste it into any chat, email or note.

Files are sent unchanged: originals are kept, so a 4K video or a HEIC photo arrives exactly as it left. If you add several files or a folder, the browser zips them for you and keeps the folder structure.

Setting it up for a one-off send

There is nothing to configure for a quick transfer. Open the page, add files, upload. If you want a bit more control before you hit send:

  • Expiry: 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days without an account; up to 7 days when signed in.
  • Password: the receiver has to type it before downloading. See password-protected file sharing.
  • Download limit: 1, 5, 10, 50 or 100 downloads, after which the link stops working.
  • Delete now: you can remove a transfer at any time, and everything is deleted automatically at expiry.

When AirDrop is still the better choice

Being honest about the trade-offs:

  • Between two Apple devices in the same room, AirDrop is faster to start. No upload step, no code.
  • Very large files. Enzonic Send caps transfers at 500 MB anonymously and 2 GB with a free account. For a 20 GB project folder between two Macs, AirDrop or a cable will serve you better.
  • Offline. AirDrop works without an internet connection. Enzonic Send needs one on both ends.
  • End-to-end encryption. Enzonic Send encrypts files in transit and at rest but is not end-to-end encrypted.

For everything else, especially anything that crosses from Apple to Android or Windows, a link and a code are simpler than hunting for a workaround.

Phones, apps and browsers

You do not need to install anything. On iPhone, Safari works fine; on Android, use Chrome or any modern browser; on a computer, any current browser. If you share from your phone often, the Enzonic Send apps for iPhone and Android add a built-in QR scanner so receiving is one tap. The service is free and supported by ads.

FAQ

Is there an AirDrop for Android?

AirDrop itself only runs on Apple devices. To move files between an iPhone and an Android phone, use a browser-based tool like Enzonic Send: upload on one phone and open the link, code or QR code on the other.

Does this work when the two devices are not near each other?

Yes. Files go over the internet and are stored until they expire, so the receiver can be in another city and does not need to be online when you send.

Is Enzonic Send as private as AirDrop?

Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can add a password, a download limit and a short expiry. Enzonic Send is not end-to-end encrypted, so for highly sensitive files between two Apple devices in the same room, AirDrop may be the better fit.

How large a file can I send?

Up to 500 MB per transfer without an account, and up to 2 GB per transfer with a free account.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It works in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox. There are optional Enzonic Send apps for iPhone and Android that add QR scanning.
