Step by step
Open Enzonic Send on the Mac
Go to send.enzonic.com in Safari, Chrome or Firefox on your Mac.
Drag files in from Finder
Drag files or a whole folder from a Finder window onto the upload area. Folders and multiple files are zipped in the browser with their structure kept.
Pick expiry and options
Choose how long the transfer stays up, and add a password or download limit if you want one. Then start the upload.
Enter the code on Windows
On the PC, open send.enzonic.com/receive in Edge or Chrome and type the 6-digit code shown on the Mac.
Download and extract
Download the file. If it is a zip, right-click it in File Explorer and choose Extract All.
AirDrop stops at the edge of Apple's ecosystem, and setting up a shared folder between macOS and Windows means digging through sharing settings, user accounts and firewall prompts on both machines. For most one-off transfers it is quicker to go through the browser: upload on the Mac, type a code on the PC, done.
How it works between the two machines
Enzonic Send stores your upload on Cloudflare's network and gives you three ways to fetch it: a share link, a 6-digit code and a QR code. On a Windows PC sitting next to your Mac, the code is usually the fastest route. You read six digits off the Mac screen and type them at send.enzonic.com/receive.
Because the file sits on a server rather than streaming directly between devices, the two computers do not need to be online at the same time. You can upload from your MacBook at home and download on the office PC the next morning, as long as the transfer has not expired.
On the Mac: uploading from Finder
- Open send.enzonic.com in Safari, Chrome or Firefox.
- Open a Finder window and select what you want to send. Command-click to pick several files, or select a folder.
- Drag the selection onto the upload area. You can also click the area and browse, but dragging is quicker for folders.
- Set the expiry. Without an account you can choose 1 hour, 1 day or 3 days. Signed in, you can keep a transfer up for as long as 7 days.
- Optionally add a password, a download limit, a title or a short message, then upload.
When the upload finishes you will see the code, the link and the QR code. Leave that screen open until you have typed the code on the PC, or copy the link if you prefer to paste it somewhere.
On Windows: receiving and extracting
On the PC, open Edge, Chrome or Firefox and go to send.enzonic.com/receive. Type the 6-digit code and download.
- Single file: it lands in your Downloads folder exactly as it was on the Mac.
- Several files or a folder: you get one
.zip. In File Explorer, right-click it and choose Extract All, then pick a destination. The original folder structure is kept.
If you set a password, the PC will ask for it before the download starts.
Mac-specific snags on the Windows side
Most files cross over without any issue. A few things trip people up, and none of them are caused by the transfer itself:
Apple-only file formats
Pages, Numbers and Keynote files will not open on Windows. On the Mac, use File > Export To and choose Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF before uploading. Photos exported from the Mac Photos app may be in HEIC format; recent Windows versions can show them once the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed, or you can export as JPEG on the Mac.
File names Windows will not accept
macOS allows characters in file names that Windows rejects, such as ?, *, |, <, > and ". If a zip fails to extract cleanly, check for names with those characters and rename them on the Mac before sending again.
Hidden macOS files
Folders sent from a Mac can contain hidden metadata files such as .DS_Store. If they show up on Windows, they are harmless and safe to delete.
Size limits and what to do above them
| Situation | Per-transfer limit |
|---|---|
| No account | 500 MB |
| Free account (email or Google) | 2 GB |
If you regularly move more than 2 GB, the browser is not the right tool for that job. Two practical options:
- Split the job. Send one project folder at a time, or split a large archive into parts. See how to send a 2 GB file for tips on getting under the limit.
- Use a USB drive formatted as exFAT. Both macOS and Windows can read and write exFAT out of the box, unlike APFS (Windows cannot read it natively) or NTFS (macOS reads it but does not write to it by default).
For everything under the limit, the browser route avoids cables entirely and works across networks.
Privacy settings worth using
A transfer is reachable by anyone who has the code or link until it expires, so for anything sensitive:
- Add a password and tell the person on the PC separately.
- Set a download limit of 1 if the file only needs to land on one machine.
- Pick the shortest expiry that fits, and delete the transfer yourself once it has been downloaded.
Files are encrypted in transit and at rest, but Enzonic Send is not end-to-end encrypted, so treat highly confidential material with the same care you would for any cloud service. More on this in password-protected file sharing.
Going the other way
The same steps work in reverse: upload from File Explorer on the PC, then type the code on the Mac. If you are mainly looking for a cross-platform AirDrop replacement, AirDrop for Windows covers that in more detail, and sending a whole folder explains how the in-browser zipping handles large directory trees.
FAQ
Do the Mac and the Windows PC need to be on the same network?
No. The files are uploaded to Cloudflare's network, so the PC can be in another room or another country, and it can download after the Mac is closed.
Can I send a whole folder from Finder to Windows?
Yes. Drag the folder onto the upload area. It is zipped in the browser with its subfolders intact, and Windows can open the zip with Extract All.
Why does Windows not open my Pages or Numbers file?
Windows has no app for Apple iWork formats. Export from Pages, Numbers or Keynote to Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF on the Mac before you send.
What is the largest file I can send from Mac to PC?
Up to 500 MB per transfer without an account, and up to 2 GB per transfer with a free account. For anything bigger, split it or use an exFAT USB drive.
Are the files changed or compressed on the way?
No. A single file arrives exactly as it left the Mac. Multiple files and folders are packed into a zip, which keeps the originals inside.
