A Free WeTransfer Alternative

WeTransfer is a solid service, but its free plan has a monthly cap. Here is how Enzonic Send compares, where each one fits better, and how to send a file in under a minute.

Send Receive

Drop files or a folder

Files Folder

Up to 500 MB · Sign in for 2 GB

Step by step

  1. Add your files

Drop files or a whole folder onto the uploader at send.enzonic.com, or tap to pick them on a phone.

  2. Pick the options

Choose an expiry time, and optionally add a password, a download limit, a title or a message.

  3. Share the link, code or QR

Send the link, read out the 6-digit code, or let the other person scan the QR code.

  4. Recipient downloads

They open the link, or go to send.enzonic.com/receive and type the code. You can close your tab once the upload finishes.

WeTransfer made big-file sending simple, and plenty of people still use it every day. The free plan, though, is built around a monthly allowance, and some users want a different option after the terms-of-service debate in 2025. Enzonic Send is one free alternative. It is not better at everything, so this page lays out the differences plainly.

Where WeTransfer is the stronger pick

Being honest about this saves you time:

  • Email delivery. WeTransfer can send the download link to recipients' inboxes for you. Enzonic Send does not email anyone; you copy the link or code and share it yourself.
  • Paid plans for heavy users. If you move tens of gigabytes a month for work, WeTransfer's paid tiers are designed for that. Enzonic Send tops out at 2 GB per transfer, even with an account.
  • Recognition. Many clients already know what a WeTransfer email looks like, which can matter in agency or freelance work.

If any of those is a deal-breaker, stay with WeTransfer or look at the wider comparison of free transfer services.

Where Enzonic Send fits better

Files are stored on Cloudflare's network, so the person receiving does not need to be online when you send. You can close the tab after the upload finishes.

About the July 2025 terms change

In July 2025, WeTransfer updated its terms of service. One clause gave the company a broad licence over uploaded content and mentioned improving machine learning models. Many creative professionals read it as permission to train AI on their files, and the change drew wide criticism.

WeTransfer responded within days. It said it does not use customer content to train AI, and it revised the clause to remove the machine-learning language and narrow the licence. The disputed wording was reverted before the new terms took effect.

For anyone choosing a service now, the practical takeaway is simple: read the current terms of whichever tool you use, and pick one whose data handling you are comfortable with.

How Enzonic Send handles your files

So you can compare like for like:

  • Files are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Enzonic Send is not end-to-end encrypted, so do not treat it as a vault for highly sensitive material.
  • Files are deleted automatically at expiry, or earlier if you delete the transfer.
  • Single files are sent exactly as they are. Photos and videos keep their original quality.
  • The service is free because it shows ads.

Sending from different devices

  • Windows or Mac: drag files or a folder from File Explorer or Finder onto the uploader.
  • iPhone or iPad: in Safari, tap the uploader and choose Photo Library or Browse to pick from the Files app.
  • Android: tap the uploader and Chrome opens the system file picker; choose files from Downloads, Photos or a drive.
  • Receiving on a phone: open the link, or type the code at /receive. The mobile apps can scan the QR code directly.

Which one should you use?

Use WeTransfer if you need email delivery, send more than 2 GB at once, or already pay for a plan. Use Enzonic Send if your files are 2 GB or under, you want to skip sign-up for smaller sends, or you share in person with codes and QR. Many people keep both bookmarked and use whichever suits the file in front of them.

FAQ

Is Enzonic Send really free?

Yes. It is ad-supported, so there is no charge to send or receive. You can send up to 500 MB per transfer without an account, or up to 2 GB per transfer with a free account.

Does Enzonic Send have a monthly transfer cap like WeTransfer?

There is no fixed monthly transfer count. There are daily quotas to prevent abuse, and they are set generously for normal use.

Can Enzonic Send email the download link to my recipient?

No. Enzonic Send gives you a link, a 6-digit code and a QR code, and you share them however you like: email, chat, text message or in person.

Is WeTransfer still using my files to train AI?

After the July 2025 backlash, WeTransfer revised the disputed clause and said it does not use customer files to train AI models. Check its current terms for the latest wording.

Which is better for files over 2 GB?

Not Enzonic Send, which caps each transfer at 2 GB. Look at WeTransfer's paid plans or a service with higher free limits such as SwissTransfer.
